JOB REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to Process Engineering Manager

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To match colors accurately according to specifications provided by clients, designers, or production managers.
• Comparing samples, adjusting color formulations, and using various techniques to achieve the desired shade or tone.
• Conducting thorough quality inspections to ensure that the color of finished leather products meets industry standards and client expectations.
• Assessing color consistency across different batches of leather and identifying any deviations or defects.
• Performing colorfastness tests to assess the stability and durability of colors under different conditions such as light exposure, moisture, or abrasion.
• Conduct physical tests to evaluate the texture and finish of the leather.
• Collaborating closely with other departments such as design, production, and procurement to understand color requirements and address any issues or concerns related to color matching.
• Effective communication skills are essential for conveying color specifications and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Maintaining detailed records of color formulations, matching processes, and quality assessments for reference purposes.
• Operating and maintaining color matching equipment such as spectrophotometers, light booths, and colorimeters to ensure accurate and reliable color measurements.
• Regular calibration and upkeep of equipment are necessary to maintain precision in color matching.
• Troubleshooting any discrepancies or challenges encountered during the color matching process, such as color variations in different types of leather or limitations in achieving certain hues.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
• Some employers may prefer candidates with additional education in fields such as textile technology, color science, or leather technology
• Excellent color perception and matching abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in using color matching equipment such as spectrophotometers and light booths.
• Knowledge of different types of dyes, pigments, and colorants used in leather production.
• Problem-solving skills to address color-related challenges and deviations.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and conveying color specifications.
